„Á síðasta ári fluttist ég frá Hveragerði og á höfuðborgarsvæðið sem voru viðbrigði. En mig langaði að vera nær dóttur minni og dóttursyni og taka þátt í þeirra daglega lífi en ekki bara hátíðarstundum. Ég ákvað strax að þetta yrði heillaskref hjá mér og eitt af því sem hefur heillað mig við borgarlífið er hversu auðvelt er að stunda leikhúsin. Þegar ég var að alast upp stóð mamma mín heitin fyrir leikhúsferðum kvenfélagskvenna. Þá voru keypt árskort til að sjá sem flestar sýningar. Ég var svo heppin að ég fékk oft að fara með, en það kom fyrir að við komumst ekki vegna veðurs eða ófærðar. Ég á margar minningar frá þessum ferðum sem myndu kallast svaðilfarir í dag, þegar verið var að berjast yfir heiðina í snarvitlausu veðri. Í minningunni var heiðin ekki oft lokuð en vonandi erum við skynsamari í dag.
Last year I moved from Hveragerði to the capital area, which was something of an adjustment. But I wanted to be closer to my daughter and grandson, to take part in their daily lives and not only in festive occasions. I decided at once that this would be a step for the best, and one of the things that has enchanted me about city life is how easy it is to go regularly to the theatre. When I was growing up, my late mother organized theatre outings for the women of the local association. Season tickets were bought so that they could see as many productions as possible. I was fortunate enough often to be allowed to go along, though there were times when we could not make it because of weather or impassable roads. I have many memories from those journeys, which today would be called perilous expeditions, when we were struggling over the heath in utterly wild weather. In memory, the heath was not often closed, but one hopes we are wiser today.
